REBEL - DATABASE PAGE by Wybe Koopmans

One of the most popular and well known chess programs including a database is of course REBEL.

This great chess playing program REBEL has some remarkable (new) database functions. New and already programmed or planned for Rebel 10 are:

  • database search mask.
  • database (automatic) ECO classification.
  • database ECO overview.
  • database ECO Top-40 overview.
  • database new classification system for games.
So, with al this new functions we think it's time for a quality base: For REBEL 10, we planned a standard high qualified database of at least 300,000 (grand)master chess games fully name and tournament consistent.

Great, an example file please:

World Championship games 1886-1996

Unique database of the World Champion cycles from 1886 till 1996. In total 7.712 games. In total 181 events (izt, ct, cm, ct, wch-m etc.)

  • Download the WC 1886-1996 games (600 Kb)

  • Databases are many, many saved chess games, first of all, from all places and times, from Max Euwe to Gary Kasparov.

You can sort and search this database according to years, players, openings, tournaments, matches, middle game, endings and many other criteria.

And these criteria can be combined in almost every way you like: For example all games (matches, tournaments, rapid play etc.) of Gary Kasparov, he lost :)),

Now you have your training file, calling; "How to beat Gary ?"

  • How to beat Gary Kasparov (140 lost games)

  • You like to find:
all games of Vladimir Kramnik , he won with King's Indian in the year 1994 playing white. No problem, the database of Rebel will find this games in seconds, if the material has been stored. REBEL has many possibilities analyzing these games.

    But a database is more:
It allows you to build up your own (for example):
    • databases relating to your opening repertoire.
    • databases for future opponent preparation.
    • databases for general interest etc.
Databases are getting bigger and bigger. The very powerful "new" search mask of REBEL 10 will be a big help for finding these specific material in a database of thousands games.

Till now we entered about 300.000 games, for example you will find in the upcoming REBELBASE about:
    • 18.500 world championship games (FIDE/PCA)
    • 2.000 games, men versus computers.
    • 34.000 games played at the olympics.
    • 5.000 rapid/blitz games.
    • 1.000 simultaneous games.
    • 5.000 correspondence chess games.
and more, matches, national championships (USSR - about 10.000 games), special games etc.

    Another look ?

Ok, download WK-ALL part II, the zone-tournaments (820 Kb) (10.270 games).

Have fun (re)playing and analyzing these games. And believe me, REBEL 10 will have much more of these great games of chess.
